What made the match exciting: Obviously the fact that it was the final of World Cup and an absorbing one. There were so many elements that made the final this time around one of the more exciting ones. Sri Lanka, batting first were in deep trouble at one stage and had to be bailed out by a great Jayawardene century. India lost both Sachin and Sehwag early and when chances started to dim, Gambhir and Dhoni showed the way and took India to its second World Cup triumph and it's first on home soil. The best part of this match was the way the Indian captain promoted himself up the batting order and took India to a massive win.
